Alfa’s reference market consists of all the Insurance
and Financial Companies operating in Italy. In particular,
over the last decade, the Italian insurance market
has experienced an important transformation following
many aggregations and acquisitions made by the large
Groups.
Recently, there has been a substantial recovery of the
entire Damage sector, even in terms of profitability. Moreover,
the Italian damage market remains interesting
considering the low penetration of insurance products
within Italian families and an incidence of insurance
costs on the national GDP which is much lower than
the European average.
In the Damage sector, aggregations among Companies have generally brought about:
• Important processes of structural reorganization, especially within the commercial and claim
management functions.
• A strong acceleration in the placement of insurance products through branch banks belonging to
Bank/Insurance groups or simply as a result of distribution agreements.
• A reorganization of the customer portfolio with adjustment of the industrial/company segment
(Corporate/Industrial lines) and significant development of the individual segment (Personal lines).
• Growing focus on the service rendered to insured parties with special regard to the time required
for settling claims.
• A progressive outsourcing of claim settlement activities to external companies (or companies
controlled by the same Insurance groups).
In a scenario as dynamic as this, Alfa has always tried to anticipate the trends of the reference
markets by enhancing the expertise of its technical personnel and creating support structures
to appropriately meet the new needs of its customers.
